I have to admit this wedding just took my breath away. The landscape of the farmland was just gorgeous to photograph. It felt like I wasn't even in Florida, there wasn't a palm tree in sight! This top image in the middle of the road lined with trees was an idea the Bride had. I love having such creative clients and working together on the portraits, so they feel just as much a part of it as I am.
Diona and Ingi were living in Chicago when they contacted me to photograph their wedding and told me the story of how they met. He was a chef at one of the top Chicago restaurants at the time and she was working at the bar across the street while finishing up her degree. He would hang out with his co-workers at the bar after his shift. Since the bar wasn't as busy towards close, they were able to get to know each other and the rest is history as they say.
I had only met Diona through Skype and was greeted so warmly when I arrived at Ingi's family home in Sarasota. They had the ceremony in front of the pond and hand a tented reception, with the cocktail hour right outside the barn. Diona had dressed up the barn with lace and twinkle lights to turn it into a unique dance space. They had an artist on Etsy create their silhouette's and they used that drawing in every detail. From the invitations to the mason jar favors that doubled as place cards, the silhouette's brought that romantic vintage touch that Diona had wanted.
